Microgram Alternative Stage 2023

The success of last year has made both Microgram and Pestapora even more ambitious for 2023’s stage. More variety, more genre, more performers, all in the name of creating richer community-based experience. This year's theme explores how alternative music has become increasingly fragmented in our collective memory.

Paguyuban Crowd Surf, with their heavy and hard-hitting lineup, has joined for the second day of the stage. This collaboration added even more colors to Microgram Alternative stage, which already featured a diverse range of sound: pop-folk (Sky Sucahyo), indie rock (Swellow), death metal (Huminoid), and electronic (Dekadenz).

In addition to newcomers, the stage also featured several special segments, such as Obrog-Obrog by Lair, Elkarmoya in their “Mariachi Mode”, and the long-awaited comeback of indie-pop unit Peonies. Microgram hoped these elements could serve as a simple blueprint for understanding the dynamics of local alternative music.

“We feel like everything we’ve experienced over the last 2-3 years has distorted our perception and memory of alternative music. Every city, collective, and musician has their own story, separate from one another. Borrowing from sci-fi language, Microgram Alternative Stage becomes a nexus where those memory fragments meet and are celebrated over the course of three days”  - Dwi Lukita, Microgram Entertainment

Bringing this vision to life was Wildan Sugara, who led the stage art direction, and UVISUAL, who handled the visual presentation.
